Lenswood Harvest Festival – "How did you like them apples"?

March is part way through the apple harvest season, and a good excuse to put a number of elements together.  Apple and apple based produce, a jumping castle, bands, tractors, dog massage (!), paella, slow brewed organic coffee, beer, and of course classic cars.  This and more became another Lenswood Harvest Festival.

i enjoyed this product very much, but it can be a little too sweet but very tangy and tasty! Online viagra? Generic drugs that do so should have the same therapeutic effect and therefore the same benefits as their brand-name counterparts, but at less cost.

A broad representation of the Classic Car community gathered – everything from a Riley 9 with a fibreglass body, to a full LPG gas powered 32 Ford 3 window coupe.  Ours and the Riley Clubs had a friendly face-off and were given the task of judging each other’s best of examples, with a People’s Choice to be decided as well.

Mine [and a few others] favourite was a Riley 9 that didn’t seem to have much Riley left on it.  See below.  Alternator conversion, fibreglass everywhere, home made SU trumpets, laser cut friction dampers, reverse H pattern shift, and originality be damned.  Even the screens were off a 50’s Holden.

Clear winner for the day was in fact El Presidente – Kevin Caire, whose Bugeye took out People’s Choice and the Riley Club’s favourite trophies.  Kevin was of course at his son’s wedding, so while Chris and Barb [who had brought the car up], were not looking, Ken Dutch and I impersonated Kevin, and grabbed the trophies at the presentation.  Ken makes a better Kevin than I do….

One final note – Lobethal Bierhaus turned up.  Nothing fancy, just a truck, four kegs and bottles and a pile of plastic cups.  Good fun day out had by all – somthing you have to put in your diaries again next year.  As one smart arse band singer said when introducing the next song – “Enjoy…OR ELSE!!”

Seven cars (11 people) met at the Fullarton Park Community Centre and headed off towards Windy Point. The weather was kind to all and particularly suited those with their tops down.  Through Upper Sturt to Aldgate, then into Mylor, Echunga, Meadows, Kangarilla and a much needed comfort stop at Clarendon.

The roads were ideal for cruising and blowing some of the cobwebs from our cars. All the cars performed well, even the family cars, so there were no hold-ups for any mechanical problems.  From Clarendon we wound up at Woodcroft where Barb and Chris had prepared a barbecue lunch and we were also joined by Rose and Jan making 15 in total.  And it was not just a barbecue – after the meat course was over and sweets were on the way, Paul and Pat Mitchell entertained us with a musical presentation of Irish songs, Australian ballads and some blues on mandolin, accordion and guitar.

While we were not any serious competition for the Adelaide Harmony Choir, we sang along and thoroughly enjoyed the music, and then came the sweets.

But it all had to come to an end, so somewhat later in the afternoon, after coffee and green cakes we all set off for our homes.

Thank you to all those involved in the organisation of this great day’s outing.

Australia Day
23 members wound their way up to Gumeracha to Fay and Gary Brock’s home for the traditional Australia Day BBQ and what a day it turned out to be. Adelaide put on wonderful weather for the event. Lots of nibbles, including Molly’s wonderfully exhilirating prawn crackers, and along with the barbie food and sweets, which were mouthwateringly delicious, none fattening of course, ha ha ha!, and with all the alcoholic beverages one could imagine, make it an enjoyable day.
The Australia Day Trophy, renamed the John Bowering trophy, in remembrance of John, was won by one of our newest members, Gerry Thompson, who assured us that he would cherish and care for the trophy until next year.

Thanks again to the Brocks for opening up their lovely home for a really enjoyable event.
