Australia Day Picnic and Thong Throwing Competition – 26th January

Our first event for 2021 will be the Australia Day Picnic and Thong Throwing Competition on Tuesday 26th January.

This year the “thong” has been passed from Gary and Faye Brock to Des and Penny Chabrel, who will host the event at their property at Dorset Lane, Oakbank.

There are a few changes due to the COVID-19 requirements and the restrictions on the sharing of food and utensils, so please note the following:

  • There will be no cooking facilities, so this will be a BYO Picnic Lunch (Cold meat/Chicken and salad or similar)
  • Please bring a Sweets to share – we have one person serving these to prevent any sharing of food utensils, etc.
  • Please BYO Chairs, Drinks, Sunscreen, etc
  • There will a COVID-19 Contract Tracing check-in – either via the QR code or Manual sign-in.
  • Please maintain the usual social distancing and personal hygiene requirements.
  • Please do not attend if you are unwell or have any of the recognised symptoms.
  • Thank you for your support of these requirements to allow this event to proceed.

An important and enjoyable part of the day will be the Thong Throwing Competition, supporting the spirit of Australia Day. Several members have been practicing throughout the lockdown period so the competition should be strong.

Please RSVP to Des and Penny on 0457 206 946 – letting them know what sweets you will bring and for further directions, etc
